Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 }f_@@#KB?  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has hrD2-S  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   L4T\mP7D7*  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 y{<js!au  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with y${`W94  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was g"Hl 30o  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue 3?<A]"X.

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped !5h-$;  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights 'AWWdz  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture i;/;zG^=_  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In 9=6BQ`u  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took UroC8Tm  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, 2"|7 YI  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for t'J4zV  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a 82+2PE{  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on 'LuxF1>  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group _a9oHg  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states %-$ :/N  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. 5M9o(Z\AF

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR >EA\KrjW  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   b?cO+PY01  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life G9xO>Xp^Al  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a LttA8hf5q?  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as js;YSg{m  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? ,4
XOe,WQ  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being ,Xn%0]  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   p ^TCr<=  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on ^~TE$i<  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   7JuHa /Mv  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that kREFh4QO,  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not \(=xc2  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I v9,cL.0&

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil A /c  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes /E{tNd^S  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of LkK&<z  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek -Vb5d!(  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner pZ[|Q2(  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. 8 l= EL7  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there yn@wce  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project @`nG&U  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive %dr*dA'  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to })kx#_o]'d  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e 1ljcbD)T;  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   _-#o[>2[  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but x $[_Hix  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of ;.xKVH/@  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I {*g{9`
