Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 5IE3[a%X  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has V,:^@ 7d  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   HO[W2b  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 }#):ZPTs  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with 3}R}|Ha J#  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was |2t g3m@  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue -E{D'X

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped San3^uX  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights -

of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture S;@nPzhc  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In @'n075)h  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took :jL>sGvBv  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, Nl/^ga  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for `%S 35x9  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a
{<ms;Oi'  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on wr);+.T9R  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group xs#g  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states 7p1f*N[X  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. c_"=G#^9@i

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR m8[XA!,  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   ($QQuM=  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life |m{u]9  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a j-]`;&L  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as g{ ()  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? 9-:\ NH^;  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being xhcFZTj/(  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   ya3k;j2C  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on pW&K=,7|  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   @!'rsPrI  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that B^;"<2b*  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not P{m(.EC_  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I  zSd!n

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil XXDLbT'J  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes jouA ]E  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of r>ziQq8C&  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek uH{oJSrK  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner 52,[dP,g  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. k\76`!B  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there bZ0{wpeK=  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project c-VIpA1  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive ;cEoc(<?  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to ?3 S{>+'  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e %6.WGuO  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   q
