Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 JYc;6p$<i  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has R `  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   c<Fr^8  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 ^\KZE|^3@  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with >8PGyc*9  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was -Q9} gaH_  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue ;<hLy(@  
music professionally. <*oTVl4fS

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped MfQ

who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights dg-nv]7  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture b@`h]]~:  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In Bq@_/*'*Y  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took bi~1d"j  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, gM>geWB<  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for v[57

Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a ebfT%_N  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on 05hjC  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group UU'0WIbY6  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states a]\l:
r  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. ^ZP $(a4

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR stQRl_('  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   %W` }  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life cao=O \Y7  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a %?2y2O,;  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as FLUvFD  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? ~xCv_u^=  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being x,L<{A`z  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   v(=?@tF}E  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on Q,v/]bXd  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   eI%9.Cx#I  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that gxPu/VD

trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not %[B^b)2  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I &

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil A1g.ww:  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes Nk2n&(~$  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of ?`hA:X<  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek M47t(9krV  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner Zo`_vx/{j  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. Gn&=<q:H  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there 6pP:Q_U$  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project p?-qlPl  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive C2 4"H|D  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to 'Y2ImSWj  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e )[wB:kG  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   ]

Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but HQ:Y:  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of
